The Benefits of Soy Wax: Why We Love It!

Why We Love Soy Wax

Soy wax is a popular choice for making candles due to its natural and eco-friendly properties. Here is some information about using soy wax to make candles:

 What is soy wax?

Soy wax is made from soybean oil, which is derived from soybeans. It is a renewable and biodegradable resource, making it a sustainable option for candle making. Soy wax is known for its clean-burning properties and ability to hold fragrance well.

 Benefits of using soy wax:

Natural and renewable:

Soy wax is made from natural ingredients and is derived from a renewable resource.

Clean burning:

Soy wax produces minimal soot and releases fewer toxins compared to other types of wax, resulting in cleaner air quality.

Longer burn time:

Soy wax candles tend to have a longer burn time compared to other types of candles.

Excellent fragrance throw:

Soy wax has a great scent throw, meaning it can hold and release fragrance oils effectively.

Easy cleanup:

Spills or drips from soy wax are easy to clean up with soap and hot water.

When burning a soy candle, here are some tips for customers to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience:

 Trim the wick:

Before lighting the candle, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch (6 mm) in length. This helps to prevent excessive flickering, smoking, and uneven burning. Trimming the wick also helps to maintain a steady flame and prevents the formation of black soot.

Burn the candle for an appropriate amount of time:

Allow the soy candle to burn for a sufficient amount of time during each use. This helps to ensure a full melt pool, where the entire top layer of wax is liquefied. Allow the candle to burn for approximately 3 to 4 hours. This prevents tunneling and promotes an even burn throughout the entire candle.

 Avoid drafts:

Place the soy candle in a location away from drafts, such as open windows, fans, or air vents. Drafts can cause the flame to flicker excessively, leading to an uneven burn and potential safety hazards.

 Burn within sight:

When burning a soy candle, always keep it within sight. Never leave a burning candle unattended, especially if there are pets or children around. It's important to monitor the candle and ensure it is in a safe position, away from flammable materials.

Use a candle holder or heat-resistant surface:

Place the soy candle on a heat-resistant surface or in a candle holder designed for that purpose. This helps to protect the surface underneath from heat damage and prevents potential accidents.

 Avoid overburning:

Do not burn the soy candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Overburning can cause the wick to become too long, leading to excessive smoking and mushrooming. It's recommended to extinguish the candle after 4 hours, allow it to cool, trim the wick, and then relight if desired.

 Extinguish properly:

When extinguishing the soy candle, use a snuffer or gently blow out the flame. Avoid blowing too forcefully, as this can cause hot wax to splatter. Make sure the wick is completely extinguished and the candle is cool before moving or relighting.

 Store properly:

When not in use, store the soy candle in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight. This helps to preserve the quality and fragrance of the candle.

By following these tips, so you can enjoy the beauty and fragrance of soy candles while ensuring a safe and long-lasting burn.

 Enjoy it while it burn!
