Emilio Horton leading a Latino-owned candle making class in Dallas, Texas — YOU ME & EMILIO mobile soy candle experience

When you book a candle making class in Dallas, you're not just signing up for a craft activity — you're choosing an experience rooted in culture, family legacy, and genuine passion for the craft.

YOU ME & EMILIO is a Latino-owned, Dominican-founded mobile candle making experience based in Dallas, Texas. And the story behind it is one worth knowing.

The Story Behind the Brand

Founder Emilio Horton of YOU ME & EMILIO — Dominican-born entrepreneur and candle making class instructor in Dallas, DFW

Founder Emilio Horton grew up in the Dominican Republic, where entrepreneurship isn't just a career path — it's a cultural cornerstone woven into the fabric of family life.

His grandfather, Ramon Julio Horton, built two thriving businesses — Repuesto San Ramon and Garage San Ramon — that became pillars of their community. As a child, Emilio spent his Saturdays at those shops, watching his grandfather work, learning the value of hard work, customer relationships, and building something with your own hands.

His father, Ramon Emilio Horton, carried that torch forward with his own business, Moto-Bici San Ramon. From him, Emilio learned that freedom and fulfillment are the true gifts of entrepreneurship.

Those lessons took root early. At just nine years old, Emilio noticed his classmates lacked coloring books — so he started photocopying blank pages and selling them. His first business. At twelve, he and his grandmother Meca (America Fernandez) made and sold handcrafted ice cream from scratch, bringing joy to their neighbors one scoop at a time.

That entrepreneurial fire never went out. In 2015, it reignited — and YOU ME & EMILIO was born.

From Bracelets to Candles: How the Brand Evolved

YOU ME & EMILIO brand evolution — from handcrafted bracelets to luxury hand-poured soy candles and mobile candle making classes in Dallas

The brand started with handcrafted bracelets — carefully designed accessories that reflected Emilio's personal style and resonated with everyone around him. The encouragement he received from coworkers and customers gave him the confidence to keep going.

Over time, the brand evolved into what it is today: a luxury mobile candle making experience and a line of premium hand-poured soy candles, room mists, wax melts, and fragrance oils — all crafted with intention, love, and positive energy.

Every product, every class, every experience carries the spirit of three generations of Dominican entrepreneurs.
